It's the passing of an era. My mother was a folkie, and I heard Pete and others with him from an early age. We need a few more protest singers like him. You know, the ones from whom you can actually understand the lyrics. -- mj
While maturing, I looked to Pete Seeger for modern interpretive verse, like "Little Boxes" and Woody Guthrie for news from the working class. Also I overdosed on Peter, Paul & Mary, Joni Mitchel, Joan Baez, Chad Mitchel, Bob Dylan & Arlo Guthrie. My parents who would have been comfortable with the tea-party, objected, of course. Personally I believe it was jealousy --- they would all be in their mid-90's now. Which of those voices of the peoples' truth will be the next to fail?
